Won't light, won't stay lit, or burning poorly? We find the cause and fix it.
Chimney Works repairs and services gas fireplaces for homeowners in Olive Branch, MS, across DeSoto County, and in the Memphis area. Gas fireplaces that won't light, won't stay lit, or burn poorly are one of our most common calls. We troubleshoot the system, repair what's actually wrong, and tell you plainly if the unit is worth fixing.
Call or text (901) 240-0306, or request an estimate and tell us what the fireplace is doing.

Most of the time the cause is small. The pilot has gone out or is dirty, the thermocouple or thermopile (the small sensors that tell the gas valve a flame is present) has worn out, the igniter is weak, the remote or receiver batteries are dead, or the gas valve has been turned off.
We check each of those in order instead of guessing, fix the one that is actually the problem, and make sure the burner lights and stays lit before we leave. If the pilot keeps dropping out after it is lit, that is usually the same short list, and it is usually repairable.

Yes. A gas fire burns cleaner than wood, but it is not maintenance-free. Dust, soot, and spider webs build up on the pilot, the burner, and the logs over the summer, and the vent or chimney still has to stay clear so the fireplace can exhaust properly.
A good time to have it looked at is before the cold season, so it lights the first night you want it. If your gas fireplace vents through a masonry chimney, we can pair the visit with a chimney inspection or a sweep with the same crew.

It depends on what is wrong and how old the unit is. We tell you plainly what the repair involves and whether it makes sense. If a replacement or an upgrade is the better use of your money, we will say so, and we install gas fireplaces too.
Do not light it. Leave the house and call your gas company or 911 from outside. Once the gas company has made it safe, call us and we will find and repair the fireplace problem.
